Ryecroft hall investigation report 17.4.09 :

Liz Oakes from the 'Children Today Charity'

Equipment used:

4 x night vision infrared cameras,

1 x locked off night vision camera,

6 x digital cameras,

4 x temperature gauges,

4 x sets of dowsing rods,

1 x white noise cd,

3 x glass divination boards and glasses.

Below is a compilation of the nights events put it together with the evidence gathered off both groups.

Group vigil in the cellar at the start of the night:

Dee sensed a man standing in the corner between the cupboard and boiler room and also in the adjacent far room where we held the séance we later found out there was someone there verified by the caretaker. A young girl with long blonde hair with the name Mary-Anne/ellen aged 7-8 was picked up sitting in one of the chairs in the cellar.

We played our white noise CD and picked up on piano music and crying of someone in distress, people were hearing church bells or servants bells and the sound of children singing.

The smell of alcohol was picked up and it was associated with the spirit of a tramp or poorly dressed person. There were three tramps picked up on at the beginning of the night down in the first cellar area. A female within the group felt and heard a breath which sounded similar to a low growl.

A member of the public, Peter was holding dowsing rods which were moving very actively and pointing to a certain part of the room, also, the rods were consistently active when held by three other members of the public, which seemed to mimic each other at different times of the vigil which was unexplainable.

At the closure of the investigation, the entire group returned to the cellar:

A lady was picked up on in the cellar that had been strangled many years ago by a male of the household, it was thought that something happened in the cellar which caused the demise of many children, this lady found out about this and was silenced.

Skulls were being picked up by Michelle, feeling they may have been kept as trophies by someone.

During the group call outs we received some very distinct bangs from another part of the cellar, they were very loud, after trying to re-enact these noises, we could not find an explanation.

We did notice if we ignored the bangs and carried on talking they got more frequent as did the activity on the doesing rods.

We carried out a glass divination but the activity of the glass was very slow, a female from the group became very emotional and began crying, she was removed from the atmosphere by one of the team members as this was causing her much distress.

ladies in the group were aware of their hair being pulled and feelings of their faces being touched along with obvious cold spots in certain parts of the cellar.

During the glass divination, Danielle heard scratching coming from under the table and also tapping from the table itself, this was also heard by other members of the group.

The name Albert/Bertie was picked up in the cellar and he was sensed standing in the corner as if observing what was going on.

There was the name of William picked up on upstairs in the wedding room and the team medium and sensitive felt that this person may have dragged women down into the cellar, one of these women was felt on the upstairs corridor with the name of Elizabeth.

Library Room next to the entrance:

Matt and Carol both sensed that there was a large dog pacing around in this room. This was also picked up by Danielle at the beginning of the night and also in the end vigil.

In here one group carried out a glass divination which seemed to respond to the name David this wasn’t a David it was someone associated with a David possibly a brother?

A female was picked up in the room around the age of 17yrs, it was this female who was attached to this David. A tinkle bell sound was heard by the group and the clothing that the female was wearing was Victorian attire.

Michelle said that this room felt like it would have been outside at some point (possibly before it was extended), also, there was a well or pond in the area and this female was frantically looking for this boy David as if he had been missing and she was responsible for his safety (possibly a nanny or just an older sister), it could be that David may have drowned and she felt responsible for this.

The name of Elizabeth seemed to be connected with this young lady.

She may have been a teacher or young governess that worked at the hall, who used to teach the young children or it could have been a younger sister who taught the children herself.

The names Mary, Jayne and William also were associated with this room at some point but not clear on how at this moment.

Panelled room/Wedding room:

The group did a glass divination in here and although it wasn’t very active they felt the table was vibrating.

It was also felt that the room was used as a gentleman’s room at some point (like a smoke room where only men were allowed).

The date 27.11.1914 seemed to be significant to the room as if something had happened or someone went away.

A male energy was picked up in the corner observing what we were doing but not willing to come forward.

Michelle picked up on a female who had passed on in the room from a heart attack at some point but it was more recent, possibly early to mid 1900s.

The name William was again picked up in this room by Dee who felt the need to keep pacing the room. He was a bit of a cad and carried out underhand dealings, with things to hide, there was frustration with him too. He was a distinguished man, maybe a Master, he wore a smoking jacket, and had dark hair and moustache.

There was also a presence of a male felt in the right hand near corner of the room, this was very strong. Matt picked this up too. Carol sensed there had been blood spilt in the room.

Upper corridor and offices:

Dee felt she had kicked a white cat that was sat on the top of the stairs and sensed a lady presence in the far bottom office, maybe a maid, housekeeper kind of lady? Danielle, a guest became very emotional with this lady.

A male presence was also felt outside the office door by Matt and Dee. Carol got the feeling of a matron.

There was a feeling of someone sat in the brown wooden chair situated on the stairs going up to the top floor.

A door up on the top corridor closed by itself and was heard by the whole group, a large white orb was caught in the corridoor on camera by one of the public and this will be investigated.

The dowsing rods were being used by Carol up on the corridor and were pointing at the area where the door had closed on its own?

There was also a cracking noise heard on the corridor which was a very weird sound also a male presence was picked up on walking the corridor from room to room, could have been a matron or male nurse?

A whistle was heard on the top corridor and the date 27.11.1914 again was put forward by spirit in the form of a newspaper as though it made the news, and the connection with a military hospital and rest home for the ill, possibly from the war?

There was a connection with a male from the library area with this corridor, possibly he was up here wounded or had some hand in the running of the hospital and a victoria cross given.

There was a creaking noise coming from a back room in the corridor area which sounded like floorboards or ceiling joists.

When we looked out of the window to the drive/grounds outside Michelle, Stu and Gemma felt as though there were people outside looking up and at some point in the past there may have been unexplained sightings of spirit at this window from outside.
